We all know about vitamin E and what it is, but what is vitamin E oil and how is it any different?
Firstly vitamin E oil is just normal vitamin E except that it is paired with an oil based carrier. The amazing thing about vitamin E is that it is known as a very powerful antioxidant.
If you know about free radicals, then you know the damage that it can cause to your body and in particular to your skin. Due to its antioxidant properties vitamin E is normally added to cosmetic and skin products as it easily penetrates the top skin layer to provide protection from free radicals.
One of the first ways to reduce the signs of ageing is to protect your skin from sun damage. As the harmful sun rays hit the surface of your skin, it reacts with the oxygen molecules in your skin cells. This oxygen then roams your skin as a free radical. Free radicals are essentially toxic in nature and very reactive, for example it will react with the collagen protein in your skin very easily. By applying vitamin E, its antioxidant properties will help to stave off damage caused by these radicals.
The oil has been shown to be useful for minor sunburns. When you even just a little bit it is readily absorb and helps to heal the damage caused by the sunburn. As it is also an oil it will help to soothe the local irritation and itchiness, the appearance of flaking skin will also be markedly reduced.
If you have dry skin problems then vitamin E oil is a good natural moisturiser, it is absorbed easily and helps to moisturise and protect the skin. Additionally those that suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis may even also benefit from the application of the oil.
This product can be manufactured using two separate processes. You can either buy vitamin E as a natural or synthetic product. It is of course always better to choose the natural form of the product. Make sure to pick up a good reputable brand of oil as many manufacturers will pad the product with glyceride, which makes the product more oily but reduce the quantity of vitamin E.
Other uses of vitamin E oil
Apart from the face and skin, vitamin E oil can also be used for your hair. If you suffer from split ends or your hair is dry and very damaged then you can apply a little bit of of the oil to the damaged ends to smooth the damage and protect it from more damage.
